For this week I was unfortunately unable to attend class, so I was working from home. However, this didn't stop be from being productive. This week I focused on the goals that I set me the previous week. My goals were to create one shooting sound and one death sound. I started off with the shooting sound. During my research in Week One I discovered that most of the sounds used in Doom (1993), were free samples that had been remixed to become new sounds. With this knowledge I decided to apply this into my own work. I started by using the software called SoundQ which is a browser for free samples. In this software I looked for a standard rifle sound which was quite easy to find. With the sound I then used BandLab which is an online DAW, (Digital Audio Workstation), to edit the sound. I used this preset called "Metal Bass" which compresses the sound and makes it sound more retro. In this I also changed the feedback on it to ensure that the sound wasn't too muffled.

I then focused on creating the death sound. I began by recording myself yelling into the microphone then implementing it into BandLab. Once in the Daw, I then used an synth preset called Ambient Fuzz. This present gave my voice a fuzziness that is reminiscent of the sounds present in older titles like Doom (1993). It was important to ensure they fit the genre of boomer shooting as it could impact the immersion of the player and may lead, they to no longer be interested in playing.

With this done I had achieved my goals for week. I informed the rest of the team through our discord server and told them about my goal for next week would be to create one Reload and one Footstep Sound Effect.
