Week 8:

Like last week, the group wanted to work on voice recording but this time record voice lines that would be used during the games cutscenes. Luckily, Pawell was in this week, so we had someone who was more knowledgeable voice recording. So, we found the same room that we used last week and got to work. One of the villains in the game has a monologue which lasts a few minutes. Since none of us are actual voice actors we decided to record it line by line so we wouldn't have to restart from the very start over a simple mistake. After a couple of mistakes, we got through it all. Then I help Pawell as much as I could to put it all together to sound as natural as possible. Once that was done, he then applied a bit crusher to it make the monologue sound retro and fit the visuals of the game. We then focused on the grim reapers voice lines. We used the same technique as before by cutting it down and recording it line by line before mixing it together later. This would help us save down not having to reattempt the whole thing multiple times. After an hour of recording, we had all the voice lines recorded and mixed which we then sent to our designers to create the first working cutscene.

With this done, all I had left to complete was the main theme. So, I spent a little bit of time working on it. To further expand it I decided to use the melody I had made last week and apply it to other instruments. I found a synth that sounded like a choir and decided to apply my melody to it. I thought a choir would be fitting to the theme as a choir reminds you of a church which can be seen as either a happy place for weddings or a very gothic place. I also added a kick drum throughout which helps increase the intensity of the piece.

My goal for the following week was to have the main theme complete.
